At Harbourside Supports, our focus is on helping people build confidence, independence, and genuine community connection — especially for those living with psychosocial disabilities or behavioural challenges.
We know that connection looks different for everyone, so we use shared interests and relaxed social settings to help participants feel comfortable and supported. Whether that’s a gaming session, a Dungeons & Dragons night, a walk along the coast, or joining in a local event, the goal is always the same — to help people feel included, capable, and proud of their progress.
This approach is backed by years of hands-on experience and strong practical skills, including:
- Supporting participants with complex and challenging behaviours, using calm communication, de-escalation, and redirection strategies.
- Creating and following Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) to ensure consistent, person-centred care.
- Helping participants with mental health needs feel safe, respected, and heard.
- Encouraging community participation through tailored outings and group activities that match each person’s interests and comfort level.
- Building social confidence through shared hobbies like gaming, D&D, and community exploration.
- Working with participants and families to set achievable goals and celebrate small wins.
- Providing a calm, supportive environment that helps people try new things and build independence at their own pace.
- At the heart of this work is empathy, patience, and a genuine belief that everyone deserves to feel connected — not just supported.
Who are we?
Hi, I’m Jamie Edye, and I started Harbourside Supports because supporting people has always been part of my life. Growing up with a brother on the autism spectrum and a mum with a severe back injury taught me early on about patience, understanding, and the importance of really listening to people’s needs.
That personal experience shaped how I support others today. I hold a Certificate IV in Disability and have been working in the disability sector since 2019, gaining extensive experience across SIL, SDA, and community-based supports. Over the years, I’ve learned that the best outcomes come from support that’s personal, flexible, and built on trust.
At Harbourside Supports, our niche is all about Connection, Confidence & Community. We focus on helping people build independence and social connection — especially those living with psychosocial disabilities, brain injuries, autism, or behavioural challenges. Everyone connects differently, so we use shared interests and relaxed activities to create genuine engagement — whether that’s gaming, Dungeons & Dragons, local outings, or community events.
Our motto, “Supporting Growth, Supporting Life,” guides everything we do:
- Supporting growth means helping people build skills, confidence, and independence at their own pace.
- Supporting life means being there for the everyday things — the routines, the achievements, and the small wins that make a big difference.
We provide support for adults (18+) across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions, including:
- Community access and social activities
- In-home support and daily living assistance
- Transport to appointments and events
- Behavioural and mental health support in calm, safe settings
As a small, local provider, we take the time to really get to know each person we work with. For me, this isn’t just a job — it’s personal. It’s about helping people feel confident, connected, and supported to live life their own way.
